Venice, 29 June 2025 – 57.9% of Italians are in favor of a third term for regional presidents, as loudly requested in particular by the League. Only 42.1% of those interviewed are against it. This is the main result of the survey conducted for Affaritaliani.it by Roberto Baldassari , general director of the polling institute Lab21 . Among the governors most loved by Italians, the president of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia , remains largely in first place with a still growing approval rating of 67.8% , but he is also loved by 56.7% of centre-left voters and those of other parties (52.1%).

Zaia won the trust of 77.9% of centre-right voters and preceded two other members of the Northern League, Massimiliano Fedriga, from Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Attilio Fontana, from Lombardy.

Marco Bucci (Liguria) and Michele De Pascale (Emilia-Romagna) follow in fourth place, with Vincenzo De Luca (Campania) in fifth place .

“It is certainly a flattering result,” commented Zaia, “and I welcome it with great gratitude . However, I consider it above all the confirmation that an administrative model based on concreteness, listening and vision continues to find acceptance among citizens. This result does not only reward me, but a team that every day works to improve the life of our territory.”

And regarding the "transversal" consensus on his figure, the president says he is convinced that "an institutional office must represent everyone, regardless of political affiliation . Every citizen is the bearer of rights and legitimate expectations. The real challenge for those who govern is to also give answers to those who did not vote for you. This is a secular democratic commitment: it is not just a matter of administering, but of doing it with fairness, responsibility and respect for the plurality of ideas".

In recent years, as Zaia points out, Veneto has become a point of reference in many sectors: healthcare, export, hydraulic safety, tourism, emergency management. But also in the frontier of research and innovation . I am thinking, for example, of the Hyper Transfer project, the superfast 1000 km/h train recently presented in Munich: a futuristic idea, certainly, but validated by the University of Padua and Italferr - the technological company of the Ferrovie dello Stato group. The test route, 10 km long, will be built right in Veneto, completely financed by private capital. It is an initiative that puts our Region at the center of the global debate on new mobility models: ecological, sustainable, but with performances that were previously unthinkable».

Villanova (Lega): The idea of ​​running alone excites us

After the rejection of the third mandate , in Veneto they are waiting for Zaia to set the date of the regional elections which, barring postponements, will be held in the autumn . And in the centre-right there are those who refer to the poll to claim the leadership of the League, even opening up to the hypothesis of a solitary race. In fact, Alberto Villanova, group leader of the Lega-Liga Veneta in the Regional Council of Veneto , also commented on the poll.

“There are two surprising facts from this survey,” Villanova said, speaking to Affaritaliani.it. “The first is the fact that the majority of center-left voters have broad confidence in Luca Zaia. Evidently, the narrative of the Veneto Democratic Party in recent years has not even caught on with their electorate. One point remains firm, as the survey confirms: the League is the fundamental linchpin of the center-right in Veneto,” he explains. “Due to its history, culture, and presence in the territory. It is unfortunate to have to say it, but the charade about stopping the third mandate was not respectful of our history. Venetians do not like to start conversations for nothing: either things are done, or we do not talk about them. We are for doing things as a team, but if we feel like we are being made fun of, then this becomes a big problem for everyone.
